Senegal's most important relationship is with France, which provides high levels of aid; whether these will be maintained is Senegal's major concern. Relations with Mauritania have improved since tension was caused by the expulsion of 200,000 Mauritanians in 1989. A border dispute with Guinea-Bissau remains unresolved. Relations with the USA are good.
